Breast Cancer Screening

Aiming to Reduce Mortality Through Women’s Breast Cancer Screening It is well known that the chances of curing breast cancer improve significantly if it is detected early, even before any symptoms appear. To facilitate early detection, municipalities offer cancer screenings as part of community health checkups. For women, breast cancer and cervical cancer are the main targets of these screenings. It has been proven that undergoing screenings for these cancers leads to early detection and a decrease in mortality rates.

Breast Cancer Screening: Mammography for Women Aged 40 and Above Breast cancer screening is recommended for women aged 40 and above, with mammography every two years. This involves compressing the breast with a machine to take X-ray images. Mammography is effective in detecting small tumors and identifying early-stage breast cancer. However, it may be less effective in detecting cancer in individuals with dense breast tissue (high-density breasts). Recently, self-examination habits, known as breast awareness, have also been encouraged. Additionally, evidence shows that supplementing mammography with ultrasound examinations increases the detection rate of breast cancer.

Early Detection and Early Treatment According to Japan’s National Livelihood Survey, the rate of participation in breast cancer and cervical cancer screenings is approximately 40–50%, which is lower compared to 70–80% in Western developed countries. Once you reach the eligible age, actively participate in screenings to facilitate early detection and treatment. Note: Our clinic does not provide cervical cancer screening.
